Job Summary
This role involves providing essential technical support (50%) within a research Biobank, which is part of the Network of University Medicine (NUM) Bioprobes Hub, ensuring high-quality biosample management across Germany. The Technical Assistant will be responsible for organizing and executing the receipt, processing, and storage of clinical and research samples using automated equipment like pipetting robots and automated storage systems. Key tasks also include preparing samples for advanced analyses (e.g., nucleic acid extraction, PBMC isolation), supporting biochemical and molecular/cell biological experiments, and ensuring digital documentation (30%). A significant part of the job (20%) involves general lab organization, equipment maintenance, and assisting with the introduction of a Quality Management System. Candidates must possess a relevant technical qualification (CTA, BTA, MTA, or equivalent lab training) and demonstrate strong organizational skills, reliability, and a willingness to work with automated laboratory technology.
Required Skills
Education
Successfully completed training as a Chemical, Biological, or Medical Technical Assistant (CTA, BTA, MTA) or Medical Technologist (MT); alternatively, successfully completed training as a Chemical or Biological Laboratory Technician with equivalent skills and experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in a Biobank or in biomedical and/or clinical research (Desired)
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) (Desired)
- Several years of professional experience (Desired)
