Job Summary

This DFG-funded PhD position at the University of Bonn's LIMES Institute focuses on the cutting-edge field of optoribogenetics, specifically investigating the molecular structure and dynamics of NmPAL photoreceptor-aptamer complexes. The successful candidate will conduct interdisciplinary research in close collaboration with Dr. Manuel Etzkorn, aiming to understand light-triggered conformational activation by testing the kinetics and thermodynamics of these complexes both in vitro and under cellular conditions. Daily tasks involve the systematic exploration of diverse complex variants to optimize optoribogenetics and derive general principles for light-controlled gene expression regulation. Candidates must possess a Master's or Diploma in Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related subdiscipline, coupled with a strong interest and desirable experience in molecular biology and cell culture techniques. The role offers supportive mentoring, excellent facilities, an international team, and competitive salary according to the German TV-L E13 (65%) scale.
