Job Summary

This part-time (19.25 hours/week), fixed-term position for a PhD candidate at the University Hospital Bonn (UKB) focuses on cutting-edge biomedical research within the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The successful candidate will investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying mitochondrial-related pathologies, particularly those observed in neurodegenerative diseases. Key research objectives include elucidating how proteotoxicity from cellular protein deposits (such as Amyloid-beta, Tau, or a-Synuclein) affects mitochondria and establishing the cellular defense mechanisms against mitochondrial aggregation damage. The role requires a highly motivated individual with a background in biology, biochemistry, or comparable fields, possessing excellent knowledge of biochemical and molecular biological methods. Beyond research, the role includes participation in university teaching duties, offering a challenging yet rewarding environment in one of Germany's leading university hospitals.
