Job Summary

The German Cancer Research Center is seeking a Bioinformatics Data Engineer to join the Junior Research Group 'Developmental Origins of Pediatric Cancer' from September 2025. This role is crucial for generating and standardizing data analysis pipelines for various computational tasks, including mutation calling, RNA-seq analysis (bulk and single-cell), and ChIP-seq/Cut&Run datasets. The engineer will also be responsible for large-scale data integration, developing user-friendly applications for data exploration, and collaborating on data analysis with PhD students and postdocs. This position offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge research on pediatric cancer, integrating diverse genomics and imaging approaches within a multidisciplinary and international team.

Required Skills

Education

M.Sc. or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, computer science, physics, molecular biotechnology, or a related discipline

Experience

  • Prior bioinformatics training in transcriptomics, epigenomics, and/or genomics is required
  • Broad experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python, R, Bash)
  • Experience in analysis of large-scale imaging analysis preferred

  • The position is limited to 2 years. Proof of immunity against measles is required due to Infection Protection Act (IfSG) regulations.
