Job Summary

This Research Associate position, based at the Institute for Applied Physics at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, involves contributing to a German-Austrian collaborative project focused on developing novel doping concepts for Silicon-Germanium (SiGe) transistors. The core objective is to replace classical impurity doping with a charge transfer process utilizing a surface-functionalizing dielectric layer, enabling highly efficient control over conductivity in ultra-small nanowires and nanosheets. Day-to-day responsibilities include working in the Central Cleanroom Laboratory, developing processes for Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) of metal oxides and high-k dielectrics, and conducting electrical and defect spectroscopic characterization of SiGe nanostructures and test components. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering, possesses fundamental knowledge in solid-state and semiconductor physics, and has practical experience in thin-film processing and cleanroom operations. This role is attractive as it offers the opportunity for scientific qualification (PhD) within a cutting-edge international research environment focused on future chip generations.
