Job Summary

The Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich is seeking a dedicated Biology Laboratory Technician to join the Bacteriology Department at the Clinic for Birds, Small Mammals, Reptiles, and Ornamental Fish in Oberschleißheim. This is a part-time (80%) position, initially limited to one year with the possibility of extension, starting April 1, 2026. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing complex bacteriological, mycological, and parasitological examinations, such as culturing, differentiation using selective media, and conducting serological and biochemical reactions. A core component of the role involves molecular diagnostics, including DNA extraction, PCR for pathogen detection, and analyzing PCR products via agarose gel electrophoresis. The successful candidate will also manage laboratory documentation, perform statistical evaluation of findings, and train apprentices. A key requirement is a completed qualification as a Biology Laboratory Technician or equivalent, coupled with reliability, meticulous work habits, and a willingness to participate in weekend and holiday duties for animal care, compensated with time off.
