Biologist / PhD Candidate (Biophysics and Nanotechnology) | Biologe (m/w/d)
Medical School Hannover
Job Summary
This PhD position at Hannover Medical School focuses on investigating inherited cardiomyopathies, a major cause of sudden cardiac death, by studying single point mutations in key sarcomeric proteins like β-cardiac myosin and myosin-binding protein C. The successful candidate will utilize state-of-the-art single-molecule function-assessment techniques, including optical trapping and Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy, to identify primary defects in protein function. This role is ideal for a highly motivated PhD candidate, including those with a physics background willing to learn biology and apply biophysical tools to clinically relevant questions. The position offers comprehensive training, intensive support, and the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research within an international, interdisciplinary environment, contributing to the development of effective treatment strategies for heart failure.
