Job Summary

The Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management at RWTH Aachen University is seeking an IT Specialist for System Integration to strengthen their technical team. This role is crucial for maintaining the smooth operation of a complex, heterogeneous IT infrastructure supporting national and international research projects, particularly concerning water-related issues. Day-to-day responsibilities involve administering and continuously developing the existing IT infrastructure, providing technical support to staff, and managing the procurement of hardware and software. A significant focus will be on implementing robust backup and disaster recovery strategies, managing Windows networks (especially Active Directory), and handling Linux system administration. The ideal candidate holds a relevant degree or vocational qualification, possesses at least two years of professional experience, and demonstrates strong organizational skills and a proactive, results-oriented approach. This position offers the chance to work in a small, creative team environment, contribute innovative ideas, and take on new challenges autonomously.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an IT Specialist for System Integration, Application Development, or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of professional experience
  • Significant experience in Windows network administration, especially Active Directory
  • Significant experience in network management (DHCP, DNS, Firewall etc.)
  • Experience in script programming with Powershell and Posix compatible shells
