Job Summary

This role involves developing cutting-edge digital payloads for an innovative satellite constellation. The Communications Engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of signal processing and communication systems tailored for demanding space applications. Key tasks include designing and integrating beamforming antennas and their control systems, optimizing onboard processors for high-data-rate digital signal processing, and performing complex link budget calculations essential for satellite constellations. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Communications or Electrical Engineering and possesses expertise in satellite communications, antenna technology (especially beamforming), and high-frequency technology. Experience in FPGA design, proficiency with simulation tools like MATLAB and STK/Satsoft, and familiarity with standards like DVB-S2 and 5G are crucial for success in this interdisciplinary team environment.

Required Skills

Education

Degree in Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

Experience

  • Professional experience in developing complex communication systems, ideally in aerospace
  • Experience in complex link budget calculations for satellite constellations
  • Experience with FPGA design (VHDL, Verilog, high-level synthesis) is desirable
