Job Summary

The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) is seeking an experienced Expert in Sustainability Reporting to join the Securities Supervision division in Frankfurt am Main. This role is critical for ensuring the transparency and integrity of the German financial market by focusing on the enforcement of non-financial reporting standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing the consolidated sustainability reports of listed companies, identifying potential violations, and analyzing public tip-offs regarding non-compliance, particularly concerning the ESRS and EU Taxonomy Regulation. The expert will also act as an internal knowledge broker, supporting colleagues in interpreting regulatory requirements, and contributing to the development of sustainability reporting enforcement strategies presented nationally and internationally. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Sustainable Finance or Accounting) with a grade of 'good' or better, possesses several years of professional experience in preparing or auditing sustainability reports, and has expertise in frameworks like CSRD, ESRS, and IFRS. This position offers flexible working hours, mobile work options, and the possibility of civil servant status (Verbeamtung) within the public service.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (University Diploma) in Economics with a focus on Sustainability Management, Sustainable Finance, Auditing/Controlling, or Accounting & Finance, achieved with a grade of 'good' or better. Certification in Sustainability Reporting and/or Greenhouse Gas Accounting is desirable.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in preparing or auditing sustainability reports
  • Professional experience in consulting or research on sustainability-related reporting topics
  • Experience in project work or project-like structures is desirable

  • Must possess citizenship of an EU member state, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland. Must agree to an extended security clearance check (§ 9 SÜG).
