Job Summary
This role involves shaping the next generation of radar-based sensor systems for maritime infrastructure protection, focusing on conception, setup, scientific evaluation, and interpretation of real measurement data. The Instrument Scientist will work at the intersection of high-frequency technology, signal processing, and applied physics, taking a leading role in coordinating project activities. Key responsibilities include commissioning complex radar systems, leading scientific measurement campaigns on land and at sea, and developing real-time radar data processing methods for object detection and tracking. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Engineering or Natural Sciences (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Communications Technology, Physics) and possesses extensive experience in sensor system R&D, project coordination, and technical leadership. Success requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.

Education
Completed scientific university degree (Master's or Diploma) in Engineering or Natural Sciences (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Communications Technology, Physics)
Experience
- Long-term experience in research and development of sensor systems
- Experience in planning, conducting, and evaluating experimental measurement campaigns
- Experience in setting up, operating, and validating complex experiments (e.g., in high-frequency technology, sensor technology)
- Extensive experience in coordinating interdisciplinary research projects
- Proven experience in guiding scientific-technical work (e.g., project leadership, supervising junior scientists)
