Job Summary
The University of Rostock is seeking a dedicated Technical Assistant for its Aquaculture Chair. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily care and monitoring of aquatic animals and plants within the Fish Glass House, ensuring their well-being and implementing strict hygiene measures. Key tasks include independently assessing animal husbandry parameters, maintaining and installing circulation systems for fish production and experimental housing, and managing connected aquaponics systems. You will also conduct water analyses, photometric measurements, and long-term monitoring of experimental parameters, alongside essential administrative duties for smooth facility operation. The ideal candidate will possess a background in biological-technical assistance or a related field, practical experience with aquatic organisms, and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Biological-Technical Assistant or comparable qualification, preferably with good results. Alternatively, suitable training for the task area.
Experience
- Professional experience in caring for aquatic organisms (fish)
- Initial experience with administrative tasks
- Long-term professional experience in the described task area (alternative to specific education)
Languages
Additional
- Minimum level of physical fitness for working in facilities; Class B driving license and willingness/ability to drive service vehicles.
