Job Summary

This role involves supporting the German Human Genome-Phenome Archive (GHGA) office in Heidelberg, focusing on coordinating scientific, legal, and technical activities related to human omics data sharing. The Project Manager will be central in developing governance structures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and compliance processes to ensure GDPR-compliant data access across major German genomics initiatives. Day-to-day tasks include scientific project management, grant and collaboration management, coordinating with legal and technical teams, preparing regulatory documentation, and facilitating communication with national and international partners (EGA, GDI). This position is ideal for a professional with experience in research administration, data governance, and GDPR compliance who is motivated to shape the future of secure and responsible genomic research data infrastructure in Germany.

Required Skills

Education

Master’s degree (or equivalent) in natural sciences, data science, bioinformatics, computer science, public health, law/technology, or a related field. PhD is an advantage but not required.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in science and project management
  • Professional experience in research administration, regulatory affairs, and legal management, ideally within an academic environment
  • Experience with data governance
  • Experience with bioinformatics, research data management, or handling sensitive human or clinical data (strongly preferred)
  • Practical experience in implementing GDPR-compliant processes (strong asset)
  • Proven project management skills; certifications (PRINCE2, IPMA, or Agile methodologies) are beneficial
