Job Summary

The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is seeking an experienced computer scientist, IT specialist, or systems architect to serve as the Scientific Data Infrastructure Interoperability Coordinator for the German Human Genome-Phenome Archive (GHGA). This role is crucial for strengthening GHGA's connectivity with major national and international initiatives like genomDE, NAKO, EGA, and GDI. The coordinator will join an interdisciplinary team, focusing on the intersection of software engineering, data infrastructure, and IT security. Key responsibilities include coordinating technical working groups, driving conceptual and technical alignment between partner infrastructures, and leading the development of secure, scalable, and interoperable solutions. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background, experience with distributed data infrastructures, and excellent communication and project management skills to facilitate stakeholder interactions and ensure technical alignment across multiple institutions.

Required Skills

Education

PhD in computer science, IT security, data engineering, bioinformatics, medical informatics, or a related technical field; or MSc plus substantial relevant experience

Experience

  • Substantial relevant experience in computer science, IT security, data engineering, bioinformatics, or medical informatics (if holding an MSc)
  • Experience operating or developing scientific, cloud-based, or distributed data infrastructures
  • Strong technical background in IT, systems engineering, bioinformatics, or software/infrastructure development
  • Experience with genomics or health research data (preferred, but not mandatory)
