Job Summary

The Hessian State Office for Nature Conservation, Environment and Geology (HLNUG) is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join their IT department in Wiesbaden. This full-time, permanent role involves the conception and administration of the central Oracle database management system (DBMS) cluster, ensuring high availability, security, and data persistence for specialized applications. Key responsibilities include installation, configuration, patching, continuous architectural development, performance monitoring, and fault/security management. The ideal candidate possesses comprehensive knowledge of Oracle DBMS, database security, and high-availability architectures. Qualifications require a university degree in Computer Science or a related field with professional experience, or comparable long-term professional experience and certification (e.g., IT Specialist). Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (B.Sc. or Dipl.-Ing. (FH)) in Computer Science or a comparable field, OR completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (Fachinformatiker/in) with comparable expertise.

Experience

  • Several years of proven professional experience in the field of database administration (required if educational background is non-IT or vocational)
  • Long-term proven professional experience in the described work areas (required for comparable qualifications)
  • Experience with Oracle Cluster technologies, Data Guard, and RMAN (Advantageous)
  • Experience with Oracle Multitenant and Oracle Enterprise Edition options (Advantageous)
  • Experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager for complex database monitoring (Advantageous)
  • Practical knowledge in leading and executing large IT projects (Advantageous)
