This part-time role (8 hours/week) is based in Kassel within the Department of Water Ecology. As a Technical Administrator, you will be responsible for coordinating monitoring programs for Hessian lakes and bathing waters, including the hands-on collection of water samples. Your daily activities will involve supporting occupational safety initiatives, managing environmental data, and contributing to public relations efforts concerning lake health. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of administrative coordination and physical outdoor work, as it requires sampling from boats and canoes. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or FH degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Geosciences, Geoecology, Geography, Environmental Chemistry, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in lake ecology or water chemistry
  • Practical experience in water sampling, preferably in lake environments
  • Experience in data management and organizational tasks
  • Experience with occupational health and safety in environmental sampling is an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to perform physical field work and manual tasks

  • Valid Class B or BE driver's license required. Must be physically fit for field work on boats. Applicants must not have had a previous fixed-term or permanent employment relationship with the 'State of Hesse' (excluding internships/student roles). Fixed-term contract for 2 years (max until 11/2028).
