Job Summary
This PhD position, located within the Department of Internal Medicine 3 – Rheumatology & Immunology at Uniklinikum Erlangen and FAU, focuses on cutting-edge research in musculoskeletal function and mechanobiology. The doctoral candidate will investigate methods for detecting patterns in hand function related to disease activity in inflammatory arthritis patients. Key responsibilities include biomechanical analysis of hand movements, statistical analysis of parameters, and data collection using advanced motion capture and EMG techniques. The role requires an above-average Master’s degree in fields like medical engineering, movement science, or computer science, coupled with experience in motion capture and strong knowledge in biomechanics, statistics, or machine learning. Required Skills
Education
Above-average Master’s degree or comparable university qualification in medical engineering, sport/movement science, sports technology, biotechnology, computer science, or similar fields
Experience
- Experience with motion capture methods (marker-based motion capture and electromyography techniques)
- Strong knowledge in at least two of the following areas: biomechanics/mechanics, movement science, statistics, machine learning, programming skills
- Good understanding of musculoskeletal function and human movement
