Job Summary

This role, based in Chemnitz, Saxony, involves critical project management and technical planning for new construction, reconstruction, expansion, and maintenance projects related to structural engineering works of average to high complexity within the state road network. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for object and structural planning across preliminary, draft, and approval stages, coordinating projects with various specialist planners (e.g., road construction, environmental protection, traffic technology), and managing public stakeholders. Key administrative tasks include preparing contract specifications, drafting fee agreements for freelance engineering services below the EU threshold, processing contract settlements and amendments, and assisting with budget planning. The successful candidate must hold a degree in Civil Engineering, preferably specializing in Structural Engineering, and demonstrate fluent German proficiency (C1 level) to handle complex regulatory and contractual documentation within the public sector.

Required Skills

Education

Diploma Engineer (FH or BA) or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, preferably specializing in Structural Engineering, or a comparable field of study. Alternatively, a degree in an unrelated field combined with several years of professional experience in structural engineering planning.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the planning area of structural engineering (Constructive Engineering)
  • Vertiefte Kenntnisse (In-depth knowledge) of relevant structural engineering standards and legal regulations
  • Experience in contract settlement and budget contribution

Additional
