Job Summary

This role involves supporting academic instruction and research within the Molecular and Cell Biology/Genetics Laboratory at the Department of Life Sciences and Technology. The Laboratory Engineer will be responsible for preparing, conducting, and supervising cell and molecular biology practicals for Bachelor’s and Master’s students in Biotechnology. Key duties include instructing students in laboratory techniques, maintaining and repairing technical equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations concerning chemicals and critical waste. The position also requires collaboration with faculty to establish new methods, develop course materials, and participate in international research projects. Ideal candidates must possess a university degree in Biotechnology or a related field, significant practical experience in cell culture techniques, and strong proficiency in both written and spoken German and English. This is a permanent, part-time position (50%) offering a secure workplace in a modern laboratory environment.

Required Skills

Education

University Degree (Bachelor, Diplom FH) in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology, or equivalent knowledge and experience

Experience

  • Relevant professional experience, particularly in cell culture technology
  • Practical experience and fundamental expertise in cell and molecular biological techniques (Cell Culture Technology, Transfection, Nucleic Acid Analytics, PCR, RT-PCR)
  • Practical experience and expertise in specialized cell culture techniques (Flow Cytometry, Fluorescence Microscopy, Live Cell Imaging, Primary Culture, 3D Cell Culture, Biomaterials) (Desirable)
  • Practical experience in genetic engineering and diagnostic methods (Cloning, quantitative Real Time PCR) (Desirable)
  • Practical experience in protein chemistry methods (e.g., Western Blot) (Desirable)
  • Experience in handling biotechnologically oriented software applications
