Job Summary

This is a pivotal leadership role based in Stuttgart, responsible for establishing and operating the state's innovative Traffic Management Center (TMC). The Head of the TMC will oversee the realization and commissioning of the new control center, including its dedicated data center, and define its operational, technical processes, and organizational structure. Key responsibilities include leading the 24/7 operations team of 15 operators, managing personnel, and coordinating complex traffic control measures with external partners like the police and fire department. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in a relevant engineering field and proven leadership experience, driving the strategic development of the center using AI-supported systems and modern technology to optimize traffic flow, enhance safety (especially in tunnels), and promote sustainable, intermodal mobility across the region.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent Diploma) in Traffic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable field suitable for the role.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience, ideally in traffic management, tunnel operations, or technical control centers
  • Leadership experience in managing teams and overseeing operational processes (desired)
  • Knowledge and practical experience in public administration (advantageous)
  • Experience in managing 24/7 shift operations (advantageous)
