Job Summary
This role involves serving as a Research Associate within the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), focusing on the IT monitoring section of the Operational Deployment and Investigation Support Department. The core mission is to expand services for data acquisition and recording to aid criminal investigations. Day-to-day responsibilities include the technical leadership of R&D projects in IT monitoring, encompassing the conception, development, and operation of proprietary server infrastructure, and implementing advanced methods for data processing and analysis. The ideal candidate must have a scientific university degree in a MINT field with an IT focus and at least three years of professional experience in designing, realizing, or operating server infrastructures. The position requires flexibility for frequent national and international travel, participation in planned and spontaneous operational missions, and occasional on-call duty, making it a dynamic and high-impact role in national security.
Required Skills
Education
Scientific university degree (Diplom, Magister, or Master) in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Information Technology, Physics, Mathematics, or a comparable scientific university degree in a MINT field with an IT focus
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in the conception, realization, and/or operation of server infrastructures
- Comprehensive experience in Linux server administration and Linux command line usage
- Professional experience with IT network architecture and IT security standards
- Extensive experience in shell scripting, automation tools, virtualization, and version control systems

- Consent to undergo an extended security clearance check (SÜG § 9) is mandatory. Willingness to participate in flexible working hours, including occasional national and international business travel (approx. 4 times per year, 1-5 days duration), participation in operational missions (planned and spontaneous, approx. 4 times per year, 1-3 days duration), overtime, and on-call duty (approx. 4 times per year).
