Job Summary

This critical leadership role involves heading the Medical Physics team and serving as the responsible Medical Physics Expert (MPE) for the Department of Nuclear Medicine, including satellite locations. Day-to-day responsibilities include team leadership, comprehensive administration (budgeting, procurement, regulatory approvals), and coordinating medical research projects. The MPE will be actively involved in the clinical application of ionizing radiation for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, performing clinical dosimetry, radiation protection calculations, and treatment planning. A core focus is quality assurance and optimization of advanced imaging systems like SPECT/CT, PET/CT/MR, and Gamma-Cameras. The ideal candidate holds a Master's or Diploma in Medical Physics/Physics, preferably with a PhD, and must possess or be willing to acquire the necessary expertise in radiation protection (Fachkunde). This position offers a secure, full-time, permanent contract within the public sector, emphasizing interdisciplinary teamwork and modern equipment.

Required Skills

Education

Master's or Diploma degree in Medical Physics or Physics, preferably with a completed PhD. Required qualification: Expertise in Radiation Protection (Medical Physics Expert according to relevant guidelines), which can be acquired during employment.

Experience

  • Relevant experience in team leadership
  • Practical experience in Medical Physics, specifically in Nuclear Medicine (advantageous)

Additional

  • Required certification regarding vaccination and serostatus concerning measles (§23a IfSG). Must be willing to serve as Radiation Protection Officer, Safety Officer, Medical Device Officer, and Hazardous Goods Transport Officer. Location involves working across multiple satellite sites.
