Job Summary

The Postdoctoral Researcher will join the DKFZ Hector Cancer Institute, focusing on the Division of Cancer Survivorship & Psychological Resilience. The core mission is to utilize advanced quantitative methods to innovate modeling psychological resilience among cancer survivors and at-risk populations. Key responsibilities include designing and leading statistical modeling efforts, such as dynamic/latent-variable models, Bayesian hierarchical models, and causal inference. The role requires building robust, reproducible data handling and analysis workflows using R and/or Python, contributing to high-impact publications, and co-supervising students. Applicants must hold a relevant PhD and possess extensive experience in scientific coding and applying quantitative methods to real-world health or clinical psychology questions. This position offers a unique opportunity to conduct world-class translational cancer research within a highly collaborative, state-of-the-art environment.

Required Skills

Education

PhD degree in quantitative psychology, psychological methods, cognitive science, data science, applied statistics, psychometrics or a related field.

Experience

  • Extensive experience with scientific coding in R and/or Python
  • Prior experience in applying quantitative methods and modelling to real-world questions in clinical or health psychology
  • Experience in collaborating across research programs
  • Experience in presenting at international conferences
