Job Summary

The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow for a 3-year fixed-term position within the Institute of Biology. This role involves establishing and conducting biophysical measurements on photosynthetic organisms and isolated protein complexes, including oxygen polarography and time-resolved fluorescence/absorption spectroscopy. A key responsibility will be building a spectroscopy setup for measuring temporal absorption changes in the visible and IR range, alongside developing Python or similar scripts for complex data analysis and experimental control. The successful candidate will also serve as a Laser Safety Officer, publish scientific results, apply for third-party funding, and contribute to teaching Molecular Microbiology. Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant scientific field and demonstrate proven experience with time-resolved spectroscopy on photoactive proteins and handling cyanobacteria.
