Job Summary

This role involves the setup, operation, maintenance, and modernization of Data Telemetry (DFÜ) and associated electro- and communication-technical systems within critical environmental monitoring networks across Saxony, focusing on surface water, groundwater, and meteorology (including precipitation and soil observation). The successful candidate, preferably a State-Certified Technician in Electrical, Process, Communications, or Environmental Engineering, or an Industrial/Energy Electronics Technician or Mechatronics specialist, will independently procure, install, repair, and maintain measurement and telemetry equipment. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, configuration, and adapting telemetry structures to internet-based transmission pathways, coordinating with external contractors, and ensuring the continuous operation and data integrity of the gauge database. This is a part-time, fixed-term position (20 hours/week) based in Radebeul or Görlitz, requiring a C1 level of German proficiency and a willingness to participate in emergency flood monitoring deployments.

Required Skills

Education

State-Certified Technician in Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Communications Technology, or Environmental Technology; or certified Energy Electronics Technician, Industrial Electronics Technician, or Mechatronics specialist; or comparable suitable vocational training.

Experience

  • Professional experience in setting up, operating, and maintaining electrical and communication systems
  • Experience in fault diagnosis and repair of technical equipment
  • Experience in internet-based data transmission and database data acquisition (advantageous)
  • Knowledge and experience in water management or hydrology (advantageous)
  • Field service experience and suitability for working on and in bodies of water (advantageous)
