Job Summary

The Institute of Physiology at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg is seeking highly motivated Doctoral Researchers to join their DFG-funded research group focusing on Neurophysiology and Optogenetics. The core research investigates how 'top-down' inputs, influenced by attention and expectations, modulate sensory information processing in the brain, using the mouse olfactory system as a model. Day-to-day responsibilities involve conducting cutting-edge research using advanced techniques such as in vivo two-photon microscopy, extracellular electrical recordings, calcium imaging, and optogenetic manipulations to observe and selectively alter neuronal network activity at the single-cell level. Candidates must possess a completed degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering, or related disciplines, coupled with knowledge of neuroscience and the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team. This position offers intensive scientific supervision, an open atmosphere, and the potential for international collaborations, providing a stimulating environment for advanced study in neuroscience.
