Job Summary

This role is for a highly motivated Doctoral Researcher (Biologist/Scientist) to join the Neurophysiology and Optogenetics research group at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, focusing on neurobiological questions concerning 'top-down' modulation of sensory information processing. The successful candidate will be immediately integrated into DFG-funded research projects, investigating how attention, expectations, and previous experiences actively filter and modulate sensory input using the mouse olfactory system as a model. Day-to-day work involves advanced experimental techniques such as high-resolution imaging and electrophysiological procedures to record neuronal activity at the single-cell level. Key methods include in vivo Two-Photon Microscopy, in vivo Calcium Imaging, optogenetic manipulations, and behavioral experiments. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in neuroscience, a completed degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering, or related disciplines, and the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment, contributing to cutting-edge neuroscience research in an open and collaborative atmosphere.
