Job Summary

This fully funded PhD position at the Biochemistry Center of Heidelberg University (BZH) focuses on investigating RNA ligases involved in RNA processing and repair, specifically exploring protein-catalyzed, non-conventional RNA splicing. The successful candidate will utilize an interdisciplinary approach, combining biochemistry, structural biology, and cell biology, to reconstitute RNA processing mechanisms in vitro and characterize the activity of ATP-dependent RNA ligases. Responsibilities include developing high-throughput functional assays and elucidating molecular mechanisms. This role is ideal for motivated candidates holding a Master's degree in Biochemistry or a closely related field, with a strong interest in RNA biology and enzyme mechanisms. The position offers an international research environment, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and comprehensive training within a structured graduate program, fostering collaboration and professional development.
