Job Summary

This fully funded PhD position at the Heidelberg University Biochemistry Center offers an exciting opportunity within the Emmy Noether Research Group to investigate the crucial roles of RNA ligases in RNA processing and repair. The successful candidate will utilize an interdisciplinary approach, combining biochemistry, structural biology, and cell biology to dissect the molecular mechanisms of protein-catalyzed non-conventional RNA splicing. Key responsibilities include reconstituting RNA processing mechanisms in vitro, characterizing RNA ligase activity using biochemical and cell biological methods, and developing high-throughput functional assays. This role is ideal for enthusiastic researchers holding a Master’s degree in biochemistry or a related field, who possess a strong foundation in molecular biology and a keen interest in enzyme mechanisms and RNA biology. The position offers excellent working conditions, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and an international research environment, including advanced instruction and participation in a graduate school.
