Job Summary

This role is for an innovative Materials Engineer specializing in Geotechnics to join a leading applied construction research institute in Weimar, Germany. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently developing and expanding the competence field of Sustainable Building Materials and Geotechnics, focusing heavily on soil mechanics, ground improvement, and geotechnical materials. Day-to-day activities include initiating and executing R&D projects, developing innovative technical and scientific solutions for geotechnical applications, preparing national and international project proposals, and conducting practical laboratory and field tests (e.g., soil mechanical and compaction tests). The position requires a proactive, creative scientific professional with strong German and English language skills who can competently represent the subject area externally to partners, clients, and technical committees, contributing significantly to the future of construction.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Geotechnics, Civil Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Engineering Geology, or a comparable field

Experience

  • Practical experience in soil mechanics, geotechnics, ground investigation, or related areas (desirable)
  • Experience in initiating and developing new research topics
  • Experience in creating and co-designing project proposals (national and international)
