Job Summary

The University of Tübingen is seeking a distinguished W3 Professor specializing in the intersection of Machine Learning and Physics. This pivotal role is integrated into the Cluster of Excellence “Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science,” which is entering its second funding period. The successful candidate must possess a strong research profile in a core area of Physics—such as condensed matter structure, quantum physics (specifically characterizing quantum states in many-body systems), or theoretical particle physics—combined with a proven profile in Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence research questions. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting cutting-edge research, actively participating in the Cluster of Excellence, and engaging in organizational tasks related to its implementation. The professor will teach courses in the Physics department and contribute to the international Master’s program in Machine Learning offered by the Computer Science department, fostering strong synergies between the disciplines.
