Job Summary

This role seeks a qualified Patent Attorney to serve as the central legal expert for all patent-related matters within HENSOLDT AG, a leading European defense industry company. The attorney will work closely with the Chief Technology Officer, Heads of Engineering, and developers to shape and implement an innovative patent strategy. Day-to-day tasks involve independently drafting and filing protective right applications, managing complex proceedings before national and European patent offices, conducting thorough patent searches, and preparing detailed legal opinions. A crucial part of the job is overseeing Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) analyses and assessing legal risks to present commercially viable solutions to management. This position requires a strong technical background, ideally in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, combined with professional qualification as a German and/or European Patent Attorney, offering a high-impact role in intellectual property enforcement and strategy.

Required Skills

Education

Technical or scientific university degree, preferably in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Physics; Qualification as a German Patent Attorney and/or European Patent Attorney

Experience

  • Multiple years of professional experience in a legal or patent department of an international industrial company or a law firm specializing in Intellectual Property Rights
  • Experience in managing legal proceedings before national and European trademark and patent offices
  • Professional experience collaborating with engineering and development departments
