Job Summary

The Cluster of Excellence "CASA: Securing the Digital Society" is seeking several outstanding Postdoctoral Researchers for a two-year, fixed-term, full-time position. This role is crucial for strengthening the resilience of the digital society by addressing challenges posed by disruptive technologies like AI and quantum computing. The successful candidates will conduct independent, high-impact research under the mentorship of a Principal Investigator (PI), focusing on thematic priorities such as quantum technology security, defense against AI-based disinformation, ransomware, and the interaction between human behavior and cybersecurity. This interdisciplinary environment, based at the prestigious Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security (HGI) at Ruhr-University Bochum, offers a unique opportunity for scientific breakthroughs, collaborating with experts across computer science, cryptography, electrical engineering, mathematics, and psychology. Applicants must hold an above-average doctoral degree in a relevant field and demonstrate a strong publication record in leading security and cryptography conferences.

Required Skills

Education

Above-average doctoral degree (PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Psychology (preferably with a relationship to technology), or related disciplines.

Experience

  • Professional experience conducting independent research under mentorship of a PI
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve independent research achievements (e.g., publications)
  • Experience publishing relevant papers at leading conferences in cryptography and computer security research
