Job Summary
The Center for Molecular Biology of Heidelberg University (ZMBH) is seeking an exceptional scientist for a Tenure Track Professorship in Molecular Biology. This role involves conducting fundamental research that complements and expands the ZMBH's existing strengths, focusing on modern molecular and cell biology. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a successful, independent research career, secure competitive external funding, and actively participate in teaching within the Faculty of Biosciences. This position is highly attractive as it offers a full W1 salary package, core funding for a small research team, a start-up equipment grant, and integration into a renowned international research center with state-of-the-art core facilities and extensive research networks (e.g., excellence clusters and CRCs). Applicants must demonstrate a strong record of scientific excellence, outstanding publications, and proven pedagogical aptitude.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree, Excellent Doctorate (PhD), Habilitation (implied by W3 potential) or equivalent academic qualification
Experience
- Strong record of scientific excellence and international recognition
- Professional experience reflected in outstanding publications
- Proven pedagogical aptitude, generally through teaching experience
- Experience developing a compelling research proposal with potential for competitive external funding
- Employment as a research assistant (before or after doctorate) combined with doctoral studies must not exceed six years

- Must be eligible for a temporary qualification position under Article 51 of the Higher Education Act of the state Baden-Württemberg (limiting combined research assistant and doctoral study time to six years).
