Job Summary
The Max-Planck-Innovation GmbH, the technology transfer unit for the Max Planck Society, is seeking a Project Manager for their Life Science Validation Tool. This role involves actively supporting the development of early-stage research ideas toward industrial application. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing individual consultation to scientists on project design and application submission, conducting initial assessments and plausibility checks of proposals, and presenting selected applications to an internal committee. The Project Manager will also provide technical and organizational support to funded validation projects throughout their lifecycle, manage project data, and coordinate with the Max Planck Society's general administration regarding budget monitoring and fund retrieval. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in a relevant life science field and possesses strong project management skills, an interest in commercialization, and excellent communication abilities. This position offers the opportunity to bridge fundamental research with economically and socially beneficial projects.
Required Skills
Education
PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Process Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or comparable qualification in Life Science
Experience
- Professional experience in project management, including budget monitoring, or with funding projects
- Experience in de-risking/validation of early research results, ideally from relevant industry positions
- Knowledge of procurement law fundamentals (advantageous)
- Knowledge of patent law (ideally)
