Job Summary

This role involves managing and operating the critical network infrastructure for the Hamburg University of Technology (TU Hamburg), ensuring high security, availability, and performance for research, teaching, and administrative services. Key responsibilities include coordinating network planning, administering active and passive components, and continuously developing monitoring solutions (SNMP, Logging). The successful candidate will also manage network-accompanying services like bandwidth and cable management, and administer firewalls, VPN services, and network servers. Candidates should possess a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience, coupled with multi-year expertise in complex network infrastructure planning and management, ideally within a university setting. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Natural Sciences, or a comparable field. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Natural Sciences plus four years of relevant professional experience is also accepted.

Experience

  • Multi-year expertise in planning and management of complex network infrastructures and services
  • Experience in Identity Management, Radius, and Authentication Services (Kerberos, SAML/Shibboleth)
  • Experience with IPv6
  • Proven expertise in the operation and administration of monitoring and logging solutions
  • Competence in the operation and administration of firewall systems and VPN solutions
  • Resilient expertise in IT security
  • 4 years of relevant professional experience (if holding a Bachelor's degree)
