Job Summary

Heidelberg University is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to pursue a PhD in Computer Architecture within the Institute of Computer Engineering (ZITI). This role focuses on advanced research, specifically modeling computing elements and developing simulation tools for heterogeneous emerging computer architectures. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting and publishing high-quality research, interacting with project stakeholders, and assisting in the execution of funded projects. The successful candidate will also cooperate with and guide MSc/BSc students, assist in teaching courses, and help write funding proposals. Key requirements include an MSc in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, along with experience in computer architecture, simulation tools (e.g., Gem5, NVsim), RISC-V ISA, and programming in C, C++, or Python. Required Skills

Education

Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Physics (with necessary background/skills), or similar

  • Experience in developing and testing system simulators (bonus)
  • Experience in teaching or teacher assistantship
