Job Summary

This Research Associate position at TU Dresden, a leading German research institution, focuses on critical materials science research for Generation IV Molten Salt Reactors. The successful candidate will conduct investigations into the corrosion resistance of various high-temperature materials in chloride salt melts, aiming to identify materials suitable for long-term operation in pump components. Day-to-day tasks involve performing static corrosion tests in a lab setting, modifying a pilot plant for experiments in flowing salt melts, and conducting detailed material analyses to understand corrosion mechanisms. This project is highly collaborative, working closely with a prominent pump manufacturer, offering a unique opportunity to apply advanced scientific knowledge to real-world industrial challenges in nuclear and process engineering.

Required Skills

Education

Very good scientific university degree (Diploma, Master) in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field

Experience

  • Professional experience in scientific research and development
  • Practical experience with experimental techniques and procedures
  • Experience with structural modification of experimental facilities/pilot plants
  • Experience in active communication with industrial and scientific partners
