Job Summary

This leadership role involves spearheading the Application Services department within HITS.NRW, a newly established central IT service provider for public universities in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Head of Application Services will be responsible for leading a team of Application and DevOps Engineers, setting the strategic direction, defining KPIs, and managing the budget and resources for operations and projects. Day-to-day activities include overseeing 2nd and 3rd-level support for central university applications (e.g., Campus Management, LMS), ensuring high availability and performance through continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines and release management, and acting as the primary contact for university IT management. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in application operations, ITIL/ITSM best practices, and a strong background in leading technical teams, contributing significantly to the modernization and security of higher education IT across the region.
