Job Summary

This role offers the opportunity to actively shape the future of university IT in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) as part of HITS.NRW, a newly founded central IT service provider. The Platform Engineer is primarily responsible for the setup, continuous development, and operation of a highly available Community Cloud and Multi-Cloud Portal. Day-to-day tasks involve optimizing CI/CD pipelines and automating scaling and monitoring processes to ensure smooth deployments and short release cycles, working closely with development teams. A key component of the role is establishing and running Observability solutions for incident management and stability analysis. Candidates must bring 3-5 years of relevant experience in Platform, Cloud, or DevOps engineering within enterprise settings, combined with deep knowledge of Public Cloud environments, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible). This position combines the reliability of the public sector with the creative freedom of a startup.
