Job Summary

This role seeks an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer to join Schmitt Engineering, a trusted partner in high-tech industries. You will be responsible for defining concepts and developing ARM-based hardware and software architectures for embedded computing platforms, particularly for use in medical devices. Key tasks include selecting and integrating Single Board Computers (SBCs) or System-on-Modules (SMARC), defining and integrating Embedded Linux operating systems, drivers, and middleware. A critical component of the role involves ensuring compatibility with stringent regulatory requirements, including FDA standards and industrial cybersecurity (e.g., Hardware Root of Trust). You will evaluate options (build vs. buy) and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate possesses a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, profound knowledge of computer architecture, and fluent proficiency in both German (B2+) and English for effective international collaboration.
