Job Summary

The successful candidate will join Agroscope, the Swiss federal competence center for agricultural research, to serve as a Laboratory Technician specializing in Microbiology and Molecular Biology. This crucial role involves independently organizing, conducting, and evaluating complex microbiological and molecular biological experiments. A key focus will be developing, optimizing, and automating molecular methods such as DNA/RNA isolation, electrophoresis, PCR reactions, genotyping, and DNA sequencing, working closely with the research team. Beyond experimental work, the technician will be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, managing services, and administering data within the LIMS system. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to vital research projects concerning fermentation organisms and food quality, especially during the transition phase leading up to the relocation of laboratory activities to Posieux starting July 2026, allowing the candidate to utilize their organizational skills in preparing for the move.

Required Skills

Education

Federal VET Diploma (EFZ) as a Laboratory Technician in Biology or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in Microbiology and Molecular Biology fields.
  • Professional experience working independently in a research laboratory.
  • Experience in developing, optimizing, and automating molecular biology methods.

Additional

  • Good knowledge of two Swiss official languages (likely German and French) and English is required. Must be able to work 80-100%. Willingness to contribute to the organization and relocation of the laboratories to Posieux starting July 1, 2026.
