Job Summary

This role involves working as a Technician within the Institute of Physics at the University of Rostock, focusing on surface and interface physics. The primary responsibilities include developing and modifying measuring probes to enhance the sensitivity, speed, and versatility of data acquisition, as well as creating software modules for data capture in scanning probe microscopy devices and electrical current measurement. The technician will also provide technical support to scientists and students during experiments, assist with data analysis, and manage network and PC systems. The ideal candidate possesses a technical degree in Physics Technology or Electrical Engineering, coupled with practical experience in electron microscopy, electrical circuits, and surface/interface physics. This is a part-time, fixed-term position (10 hours/week) offering flexible working hours and a supportive university environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a state-certified Technician in Physics Technology or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent knowledge and skills.

Experience

  • Professional experience in electron microscopy (desirable)
  • Professional experience with electrical circuits (desirable)
  • Practical experience in surface and interface physics
