Job Summary

This full-time, two-year fixed-term position within the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization, and Energy requires a professional who can seamlessly integrate advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) development with public sector grant administration. Day-to-day responsibilities include GIS development, such as merging, linking, and ensuring the quality of diverse geodata (e.g., for the 'Gigabit-GIS'), developing analysis scripts and processing algorithms, and generating comprehensive reports, maps, and atlases. The role also involves the technical maintenance of public web applications like the 'Gigabitatlas Saarland.' Concurrently, the specialist will manage grant processes, including reviewing and processing funding applications for broadband initiatives, advising recipients, managing funds, and conducting success monitoring, including necessary on-site inspections. The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field like Geoinformatics or Computer Science, possess fundamental knowledge of QGIS, Excel, and various programming/markup languages (Python, SQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, VBA), and demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills.

Required Skills

Education

Successful completion of a university of applied sciences degree or Bachelor's degree in a technical-mathematical field (e.g., Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Sciences).

Experience

  • Professional experience in geodata processing or software development (required if degree is non-technical)
  • Experience in grant administration (as a grantor or recipient) (Advantageous)
  • Professional experience in public administration (Advantageous)
