Job Summary

The Environmental Protection Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, specifically acting as the Water Protection Officer according to the German Water Resources Act (§65 WHG). This role involves monitoring and evaluating relevant environmental laws, conducting internal environmental audits and site inspections, and analyzing corporate risks posed by environmental impacts. A key part of the job is providing expert consultation to operational units on issues related to immission control and nature conservation law, managing environmental permits, and communicating with regulatory authorities. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Environmental Protection or Technology, possesses several years of relevant professional experience, and demonstrates expert knowledge in water protection law. Experience in waste management and immission/nature protection is highly desirable, alongside strong communication and negotiation skills, making this a critical role in Hamburg's largest energy distribution network operator.
