Job Summary

This role involves managing a diverse portfolio of small and large underground construction projects for federal clients in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), working within the state's largest real estate portfolio. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the full lifecycle of projects, including earthworks, utility network renewal (sewage, rainwater, technical infrastructure), road construction, and external facilities. Key responsibilities include conducting procurement procedures, managing contractors, performing quality assurance, and active contract and claims management. The position requires a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, or equivalent qualifications as a Certified Construction Technician with substantial relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have secure German language skills (C1 level), knowledge of relevant construction law, and a willingness to undergo a security clearance. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diploma/Bachelor/Master) in Civil Engineering, preferably specializing in Underground Construction or Landscape Architecture, or a comparable engineering discipline; OR State-Certified Construction Technician (Bautechniker) qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the construction industry (Desirable)
  • Experience in managing construction projects (Phases 1-9 of HOAI)
  • Experience in conducting tendering procedures and contractor selection
  • Minimum six years of relevant professional experience in an engineering capacity (if applying as a Certified Construction Technician)
