Job Summary

This Senior Expert role focuses on the IT management, operation, and development of complex Geo-Information Systems (GIS) and Meteorological/Oceanographic (METOC) data processing systems for the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). The successful candidate will join a new Engineering Team responsible for operating and advancing systems used by the Bundeswehr's Geo-Information Service (GeoInfoDBw), ensuring high availability and customer acceptance. Day-to-day tasks involve planning, building, operating, and monitoring these complex IT environments, including associated database systems. Key responsibilities also include implementing IT security and data protection requirements, executing change requests (upgrades/updates), and optimizing IT operation processes through standardization and automation. The ideal candidate must possess extensive experience in operating large-scale IT and GIS systems, particularly ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, coupled with expertise in automation and familiarity with technical platforms like Kubernetes and Linux. This position is crucial for enhancing the Bundeswehr's command and operational capability by ensuring superior decision-making speed through reliable Geo-data services.
