Job Summary

This senior leadership role at the Fraunhofer IAF involves driving the strategic direction and expansion of the Optoelectronics business unit, which focuses on cutting-edge research in high-sensitivity infrared/UV photodetectors, active laser sources, and systems based on III-V semiconductors and synthetic diamonds. The Head of the Business Unit is responsible for developing new business models and successfully acquiring and coordinating future-oriented national and international R&D projects from both public and industrial clients. Day-to-day activities include leading major collaborative initiatives, meticulous project management encompassing cost calculation, planning, steering, and monitoring, and maintaining extensive professional networks. The ideal candidate must possess a scientific university degree (Master/Diploma), preferably a PhD, in Physics or Electrical Engineering, coupled with deep professional expertise in optoelectronics, photodetectors, or lasers, and proven skills in project acquisition and strategic planning.
