Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Doctoral Researcher to join the International Research Training Group (IRTG) META-ACTIVE, focusing on advanced photonics and meta-optics research at the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies (Leibniz-IPHT) in Jena. The role involves conducting cutting-edge research in nano-optics, specifically focusing on the preparation and characterization of chiral samples, developing photoswitchable dielectric metasurfaces, and guiding optical waves via surface plasmons. Day-to-day tasks include numerical simulations, nanofabrication, optical characterization, and presenting research findings at international conferences. A key and unique aspect of this fully-funded program is the dual PhD degree awarded by both the Australian National University (ANU) and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU), requiring a minimum of 12 months cumulative exchange stay in Canberra, Australia. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a relevant scientific field and possess practical experience in electromagnetic simulations and nanofabrication techniques.
