Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team at the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies (Leibniz-IPHT) in Jena, focusing on the cutting-edge field of field-resolved infrared spectroscopy (FRS). The role involves developing next-generation, ultra-compact FRS instruments and deploying them in a clinical environment, specifically the Intensive Care Unit at Jena University Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing broadband, waveform-stable mid-infrared (MIR) sources and optimizing optical waveform scanning techniques. Key tasks include implementing a novel FRS system based on compact fiber lasers and actively coordinating clinical studies focused on vibrational spectroscopy of breath for real-time diagnostics of critically ill patients. This position, funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant 'LIVE,' requires a PhD in experimental laser physics and strong expertise in nonlinear optics and vibrational spectroscopy.
